Proposed Terms and Conditions Cuts
As you will be aware The GMB have been in discussions with The Leader and The Chief Executive for a number of weeks regarding the significant funding problems facing the authority. This has resulted in a substantial number of Service Reviews, Restructuring and Voluntary Severances throughout the authority.
On the 19th January 2012 The GMB attended a meeting with Strategic Human Resources. At this meeting we were notified of the current budget position and RMBC's intended approach to addressing it.
The funding gap for the 2012/13 financial year is £20.4 million.
The authority has already issued an HR1 form which is the statutory advance notification of redundancies. We have been informed that the number could be up to 200.
RMBC has stated that as this time it is their intention to reinstate the 1.15% deduction from pay, which resulted from the original one year agreement, however the authority has indicated it's intention to seek agreement for a further years freeze on incremental progression.
The authority feels that this would be more acceptable than other options that were under consideration.
The authority has also indicated that it would as this time wish to discuss a review of the 3 year salary protection policy.
The GMB will shortly announce dates for face to face consultation meetings with members similar to those held last year.
