Home Care Cuts 49 Staff to go
The Enabling Service (formally Home Care) is currently under review. A review which will result in a Front Line Service loosing 30 FTE which equates to 49 members of staff.
RMBC States “The Enabling Service was established following a review of the budget, operational management and direction of the in-house domiciliary care service in 2009. Since then despite bars on recruitment and a number of staff leaving on a voluntary basis, there has remained some inefficiencies in the way the current service is staffed.”
The GMB have been made aware that the Council believes that although the Voluntary Severance window has been open again across the authority, at the request of the GMB, it is unlikely that enough volunteers will come forward from this service and therefore it is likely that there will some compulsory redundancies.
The GMB is working with and supporting the staff in what will be one of the biggest shake ups of the service ever.
